UCS data can be backed up to an offline location using the web client for extra protection against data loss. The following procedures may be used to achieve this.

How to export files for external backup:

1. Log into UCS web client and click Preferences
2. Select "Import/Export" from the preferences menu on the left side of the page
3. Check the "Advanced settings" box and select only one data type at a time (eg. mail, address book, calendar, etc.), then click Export. It will export as a Tar-GZip archive file
4. Verify that the .tgz file's size is what you would expect (not 0KB and not too small given any attachments that have been received, etc.)
5. Repeat as necessary for other data types, and make sure you will be able to find the exported files when needed in the future.

How to import backed up files:

1. Log into UCS web client and click Preferences
2. Select "Import/Export" from the preferences menu on the left side of the page
3. Click "Choose File" in the Import section and navigate to the .tgz file in question
4. Choose how import process will resolve duplicate entries and if needed choose destination folders and data types (using the "Advanced settings box)
5. Click Import
